What kind of state pushes their state meet back a day for rain????
What kind of state pushes their state meet back a day for rain????
Republican states have no toughness.
Not just rain, severe thunderstorms. Smaller school races on Monday going off as planned. We have hotel rooms, travel arrangements, etc planned. Smart move by LHSAA considering potential severity of storms and schools having to stay an extra day. Rain/wind is one thing. Lightning and strong warning for tornadoes a different issue.
I think a lot of the time this call is made by whatever entity controls the venue, not athletics people.
It will become the norm in this era of extreme climate change. Please use public transportation tomorrow.

It will become the norm in this era of extreme litigation. You don't want a local headline "8 Joggers electrocuted", no matter the risk.
Most if not all schools and high school leagues have specific rules on when competition should be suspended/cancelled because of severe weather.
There's also a chance of tornadoes
There's rain, and then there's rain.

States that don't want multiple lawsuits because someone was struck by lightning. New Jersey called off their state outdoor meet a few years ago DURING the 3200m while the Rosa twins were running away from the field.

Idk man, if you get electrocuted that's part of it... If you were running fast enough the lightning couldnt touch you, but seriously, like a little lightning, whats the deal?

Louisiana is best running state in country.
Good, if I was in a race and it started raining, i would walk off! Could you imagine running in the rain? It would be even worse than sweating!
Sure, but the wimpiest
Louisiana is an extremely litigious state. People can sue others for anything and usually get something out of it.
Louisiana running is top notch. I wish some of you acid-eating-hippy-freaks would come down here and run in this humidity

Correct. Many insurers won't write policies in the state for exactly this reason.
