Thank you Phil and all the people who have posted on this thread and others involving marathon (and other distance) cheaters.
We may not find them all, but when we do, watch out.

Apparently Runners World is looking for MCM Price, as well. Not sure if they saw this thread but they are looking for him to hear his side of the story.
I will be contactimg the reporter tomorrow unless The Brojos want thw scoop first..lol
Ah no, the Rossi Hate Group ruined that with their flame mails and inflammatory facebook posts to Bart Yasso, the VIA director, USATF and BAA.

A lot of the RW stories get their leads from LR, only trouble is they (RW) sanitize them and are too touchy feely. But hey, if it publicizes the story and deters more potential cheaters, then you and RW go for it 100%.
Good job, MCM. Hopefully other RDs will follow this lead.

from the article: "Nealis said he wasn’t sure that he would bother to officially disqualify Price from any of the races prior to 2014.
“At the end of the day, there’s nothing more that can be taken,†Nealis said. “We’re not going to go knock on his door and ask to get finisher’s medals returned. "
Watch out. The Rossi hunters are going to hound this race director and call him names. He did the same thing that the LVM did: realize there's no point in DQs of old races that have no impact on anything even though it was clear he cheated. In MCM's case, they DQed in the races that give a future BQ. For LVM, Rossi already ran his "once in a lifetime" Boston based on his fraudulent time so a DQ wouldn't do anything.
Well its quite a different situation, Barb-lover.MCM Price is "officially" paying the price for his dishonest actions through an official DQ. Until that happens to Rossi...even if it is retroactive and symbolic...the Rossi hunt will go on. Also, MCM banned Price. Via has not banned Rossi. But they should.
Well, MCM Race director just announced a lifetime ban to him.

anything new on the Price from Troy AL?

dude, my handle. do not steal it. and while we are at it, the manhunt against rossi did not influence the decision the committee made. they lacked balls, that is all. the FB crap came later.
As witchhunt-ey as this all seems, I think it will deter people from cheating. My guess is that people don't view it as "bad." I think they view it as a little white lie to themselves that no one will ever know about. The problem is, it is bad. He stole spots at Boston and places and awards...
If it is possible to end up in Runner's World as a cheater, I'd think fewer people will take the chance. Hopefully.
Could the MCM have a more phallic course map? Looks like it was drawn up in HS boys bathroom stall.

Good RW article and glad they acknowledged the LR forum and had links to Rossi and Litton, should help deter more cheaters.
Wonder what % of cheaters do it to get into Boston. I would lIke to see BQ times come down 5 or 10 minutes more if for no other reason than to see if these cheaters would be stupid enough to post times more likely get noticed.
Question: Do RDs check splits of their race's BQs? I mean, what's the percentage of BQs? 2-3%? Most races that's not many to check.
Oops. I have to correct that. The FB crap started well before the non-DQ decision. I just checked; see the first 196 pages of the Rossi thread. A certain "somebloke" even "liked" that. Sorry.

Congratulations and thanks to those who discovered this and those who kept at it until this outcome was reached. We need you to help keep our sport honest.

F-off, user name stealer!
The message board on Letsrun does not equate to FB. Letsrun posters were tremendously restrained in being helpful but respectful in relation to the LVM race committee's "investigation". There may have been one or two polite posts on Facebook, asking when they would make their decision on Rossi known, but the tone was 100% civil towards them. Everybody was under the assumption that VIA would make the obvious correct decision and DQ Rossi.
Then, the LVM put out their statement, which made it clear that zero investigation had actually occurred and they were taking the easy way out. That's when the sh*t hit the fan - both here as well as on Facebook.
In hindsight, if we had been more forceful on their Facebook page, prior to them digging in their heels, they likely wouldn't have tried to sweep the matter under the rug.
