I've never followed a marathon that Nick ran well in. He'll probably bomb the trials too, but then run 2:11 in Nashville or Little Rock.

Only Meb ran even split halves?
Monster race by Craig Leon!

Nah, never follow them.
Tim Chichester third American. 2:21:25
New American Masters over 40 record for Meb. Was it a slow day? You could make the top 100 with a 2:40.

No, this is the reality of men's distance running, U.S. style.
American Men: 2 sub 2:20, 4 more sub 2:30. That's it. Yikes!
US men, where RU? wrote:

Only because Ryan Hall didn't run, being Sunday and all. Lord wants him to spend time with his family and worship. Had he run it would have been 1 American sub 2:10.

Why the hate?
I'm not hating. I'm an optimist that he's still got some good running left in him.
The Sunday joke, obviously lost on you, was from the LA Marathon thread where he dropped out and happened to be near a bunch of churches when he did.
Congrats to him if it was a pr, but Sage, that's not a monster run.
2:15, are you friends with him or just playing? 2:15'ers are a dime a dozen. If he ran 2:10, then ya I agree, but 2:15+?

No it isn't a PR. He ran a 2:13.52 a few years ago in Chicago.
I've met Craig a few times. Nice guy. Given his hs and college times he's come a really long way. I respect that progression and he obviously is smart with his training. A 2:15 and his place at NYC was a great race for him. Just trying to give credit where credit is due.
NYC is a slower/harder course than Chicago FYI...
From memory, NYC is never particularly deep for Americans. Any sub-elite who has a shot at running in the sub-2:20 to mid-2:20 range really doesn't have a lot of motivation to run NY. Top guys like Meb and Nick Arciniaga do because they can get appearance fees, prize money, and have the potential to finish well in a WMM. But what is a 2:19 to 2:24 guy who is maybe dreaming about getting the 2:18 standard going to do in NYC? He's better off running Chicago or some other faster course earlier in the fall.
Well 2:15 on the difficult NYC course and less than 2-minutes behind Meb. Solid run, but maybe not "monster" seeing as how he has a 2:13:52 PR from Chicago 2013. I'd say this race is equivalently better than that 2:13 though.

Obviously you aren't very familiar with the history of the marathon. American results used to be very deep. I'll dig up some numbers for you when I get a chance.
