Thanks for posting, glad you approved of the QOD choice. I also had no idea about Peter Norman's story before this and thought it was a great article. I think it was the fact that Norman was a complete stranger to Carlos and Smith, but they became lifelong friends. Seeing the photo of them as pallbearers at Normal's funeral was very moving to me. Forming that type of relationship with athletes from around the world, that's part of what the Olympics is supposed to be about.

I can sympathize with this because in general, I hate politics, but depends on the circumstances for me. I get angry when I read about Jimmy Carter boycotting the 1980 Olympics, but I've always liked the photo of John Carlos and Tommie Smith. Different situations.
