I'm doing the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, with a goal of breaking 3:00.
Forecasts are for pretty warm weather (mid-60s to mid-70s) and decent wind.
I've read the first half of Chicago has more shade, which could make for a tough second half of the race on Sunday.
Here's my two questions:
- In general, is negative splitting (or even splitting, I guess) a marathon the best way to run one's fastest? Or is the marathon, given its length, a different beast since everyone's gonna be hurting like hell after mile 22?
- Also, does the forecast for Chicago Sunday have any bearing on the best approach?
Appreciate help from veterans of many marathons.
Thanks
