I'm a male in my fifties and have been feeling very sluggish of late. My performance has gone down badly and i feel i need a lot more recovery between runs and workouts.
After a comprehensive blood analysis, the Doctor tells me my Testosterone levels are very low. He is recommending i try Androgel, but i am reluctant. Has anyone ever tried it, and if so what have the results been like for you - any side effects...?
Thanks for commenting...
Androgel is a popular topical form of testosterone. The results will be very similar to an equivalent dose of another topical, or another form, of testosterone (topicals raise DHT a bit more than injectable forms of testosterone, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on what you are looking for*)...
Obviously, testosterone can have side effects, as can medications generally. What are you concerned about. Do you know why your testosterone levels are low (and what are they?)--primary hypogonadism? Secondary? Both?
*More conversion to DHT for a given dose means greater libido boost, greater mental effect (mood-boosting, stimulating), greater vascularity, etc.--but less of an anabolic effect on muscle.
Again--what are your specific concerns? If you need to be on TRT, would you rather apply this daily, or inject once or twice per week, for example?
