Looking for some advice for a High School female runner (sophomore) who is having a real off year. As a freshman ran 22:09 on a flat course and 24:00 on a more hilly state course. Best 3200 was 13:30 in the Spring. Every race this fall she has had stomach issues where she feel sick to her stomach before, but mostly during the race. Most of her times have been between 25 and 26 minutes so far this year. She starts off usually between 7:10 to 7:30 for the first mile and goes backwards from there. Last year she was normally 7:00 to 7:15 for mile one. I know that it is probably nerves, but does anyone have any recommendations for how to get her to relax and get out of her own head. Last year she was our 5th runner, so far this year, she is some where between 6th and 9th depending on the race. Thanks.
