Every year since Miles Batty, an underclass an has won the NCAA indoor mile and has not been able to defend their title the next year. Do you think Ches will? Thoughts?

If Cheserek runs he will win if not well he won't
He only ran it indoor last year cus they wanted to work on his speed. So maybe they'll do it again this year but I doubt it. They'll have a crap load of milers again and without Jenkins and Geoghegan they'll need him in the 3k and 5k.
He may anchor the DMR again tho.
Edward's biggest competition may come from his own team.
The depth of mile talent at Oregon aligned with the coaching produces incredible mile efforts year in and year out. In July at the Portland Twilight Meet, Edward's teammate Colby Alexander beat him 3:36 to 3:37. Right behind Ed was another teammate, Daniel Winn in 3:37.
I can't remember a college program to ever have 3 guys that fast in a race before. Probably cus it hasn't ever happened. And there were a bunch of other guys on that squad who were just as talented i.e. Jenkins, Geohegan, Haney, Prakel, Gregorek.
I agree. Oregon is so deep in the mile that King Chez may have significant competition from a teammate. If they could get 3:36 out of Alexander and 3:37 out of Winn in 2015, it makes you wonder what's in store for 2016.
Did Alexander and Winn ever pick up a sponsor?
Justyn Knight has some real potential in the mile. 3:39 as a frosh. Could be a sleeper pick for the win.

Oregon will enter him to max team points. This year that will be a 5k, 3k double. Last year with that double, he is stealing points from Jenkins, Stinson and Geohegan. This year Oregon's milers (Haney, Prakel, Maton) look more likely to score so Cheserek's entry would just be reduntant.
The 5k and DMR , back to back so I doubt that h enters both of those.
