Obviously possible to just do both, but can it be done well? How would you structure this training? Start from strength and race into fitness? Speed work and build base late in the season?
I'm a 50-60 mpw runner, and my goal is sub-15 in the 5k and 2:35 in the marathon. I live in Boston, so there's plenty of opportunities to run fast indoors, but not so much outdoors until the summer. The marathon would likely be in May and the peak indoor racing in late February.
