For the past several years my training has been hampered by lower leg pain. I always figured it was shin splints as it seemed to correspond to the area as well as general symptoms.
After running for a week or so, I will start to get pain here: (these aren't my legs in the pic)

usually in both legs.
The pain in slightly sharp, and relatively intense (the more I run the worse it hurts, of course). If I rest for a couple weeks it will be gone... until I start running again a couple times. It does hurt if I press on it.
What made me wonder if it's actually shin splints is that sometimes (not always though) I'll be running and I'll feel the pain at the start... but then after about 20 minutes the pain gets gradually less intense. This made me wonder if perhaps it's a muscle thing instead (i.e. the muscle warming up).
Anyhow, this prevents me from training properly... so any input would be appreciated! :) Thank you!
