cool story. You captured the essence of a good tempo. Fast but enjoyable.

Nice run!
What time were you out there?

How old are you? With those type of times, you can't be that old. Maybe we should run together. I currently don't run but mgiht be motivated to train if I had someone to train with. Do you live in DC?
Bravo !
I had a good one today too- love it when running is just fun.
I like this post. It makes me want to go run.
Thanks for capturing what it's all about!

Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Tempos on the towpath were my favorite workout. I'd do 8 miles and try to negative split each one. The first two were usually just warmup and then I would slowly crank the pace down. The mile markers are reasonably accurate and average out over the course of a run.
Now if you were a millennial we would be able to see about 15 selfies of yourself having a spectacular time during your rave run.
Glad I could bring the memories back wxboy. It's an easy place to find a nice rhythm.
I for one have Vietnam style flashbacks of being a mid distance guy at gtown getting crushed on 8 mile towpath tempos during xc. Soul crushing.
But several years removed this post actually makes me kind of wistful for the towpath.

Sounds like a good one. Not technically what you'd call a "tempo" run since your tempo pace is most likely around 6:30-40 pace. Good progressive run.

I'm in my early 50s and I can do a workout like that. And so can lots of other 50ish guys. Get out the door, rojo.

Good stuff. Nothing like letting er' rip in the rain. Even when you back into it and just go with it.
