I'm running Chicago for the first time next week and so is nikeman. Who else is running? What is your goal? Does anyone have any advice for the course? I know it's flat and fast, but is there anything I should know about?

Lots of turns, and Chicago is also known as the "Windy City", so could be breezy. Good luck! Sub-3:00 in the cards?

Maybe some day. Right now I'm shooting for under 3:15. My PR is 3:22:02 which I ran at Boston this year. I have not raced much between Boston and training for Chicago, but did get in some good times (for me) at a 5K (19:24) and half (1:31:54 PR).
Shooting for sub-2:10, sleep with 5-plus girls, egg Obama's and Rahm Emanuel's houses, and hook up with Tx_RUNNER_girl.

What are you talking about? Chicago is the ultimate gun-free safe zone for the liberal elite. There is absolutely no organized crime, violent gun crime or domestic violence in the entire area.
Anyone else looking to run 2:58-2:59?
You know I am.
First time, can't wait.
Oh, hey, yeah, earlier this week I did a Q and A with Chicago Marathon expert Patrick Rizzo. Peep it:

Why not say about 3:00?
This was helpful. Thanks.

Because he wants to go under 3 and needs a cushion since I'll be chasing him.

Well, in truth there is organized crime in Chicago but they are reduced to fighting by name-calling. They have become quite good at it. Stay away when there's a brawl because innocent bystanders have been reduced to tears.
I'm in! Shooting for 2:45. Ran 2:57 in my first marathon at Portland last year on 12 weeks training after 6 years off from running. Got a much bigger base and am a lot fitter this year.
I've done a bit of research on course tips and these are the main ones I have found:
-Get to start corral earlier than you think you need to
-Not enough bathrooms in A corral, people recommend bringing a bottle to pee in for the guys
-Lower bathroom wait times before getting into corrals
-Dont set your GPS to auto-lap because it'll get all f***ed up when you go under the bridge in mile 1
-Apparently there is a blue line that represents the tangent of the course
Good luck! My prediction is you at 3:15 and slapping Dave's 3:17 ass while passing him at mile 25! I will be sleeping in and fighting off a hangover that morning which is way harder than running one of those 5k marathon things. I have nothing else to offer as I never ran the Chicago Marathon.
Chicago, despite the name, is not more windy than any city near a body of water.
I've run this race twice. Expect wind when running down roads with tall buildings. Expect wind when closer to the water. The trip up Michigan Ave can be brutal. I was cruising back in I think 2005 then turned onto Michigan with three miles left and felt like I hit a tornado.

Is known as "The windy City " , or you could say "Second City".

It's the City of Big Shoulders. Yeah, Chicago is my kind of town.
Also a first timer. Weather is looking a tad warm, compared to ideal conditions. I'd love to see it in the low 40s at race time.

It is a week away still.
I'll be there trying to run around 2:55.
While it is windy, the reason it is called the "Windy City" is because of the corrupt politics.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
