Live in southern Oregon. Live near a big field, and once around would be approx. 1/2 mile. Would love to do loops around it, but even recently mowed, it is filled with star-thistle, burrs, and nettles. Made the mistake of running through it once with mesh shoes, and basically ruined the shoes, and had to throw out my socks. I'm still picking thorns out of the shoes.
Does anyone know of any thorn-resistant running or trail shoes? Running gaiters?

I'm just seeing this because I was searching the same question because I run on a ranch that I swear has about 50 species of thorns ranging from huge to microscopic. The Salomon Speedcross 3 has a really tightly woven upper with rubber around the toe, and it has a fairly thick sole. I've had the best luck so far with this shoe. The tread is a bit tall and I find it unstable for running on rocks and roots, but for dirt and other softer surfaces it has been great.
