Electrifying crowd, great excitement!
Mohammed Farah was very young.
Tanzania was very good.
They don't run races like this any more.
Memories.

Love how they really show a rare respect to a nonkenyan in mottram. Reminds me of Jager in Paris this year.

Yes, you could already tell that Mo, who was 23 y.o. at the time would become an all time great like Geb and Bekele. I mean, you could see him back there totally controlling that guy from Wales. How old was the winner Choge BTW?
I mean, he was only 9th in that race and ran 13:40. But at least 3 guys ahead of him was older than he was at the time.
Like I said, it's obvious to me from that race that one day (in his 30s), he would end up running the 1500m faster than Coe, Ovett, Cram (insert any European 1500m specialist in the history of T&F here) or Scott, Webb (insert any US 1500m specialist in the history of T&F here), by running the event (on average) less than once per year.
Running 13:40 in a championship setting at age of 23 is VERY impressive.

Hahahaha - this was a brilliant post :) love it!
It wasn't bad at all for a guy who basically ran recreationally. You have to be serious to get the best out of yourself though. Something that escapes most on here.
Yes, for sure, Mo, who was the best Brit at the time, ran recreationally...
I think that he won the Turkey trot that year...
