I know race how you train but looking for different ideas say for mile 18-20.
For my last marathon I just did 1gel every 20mins and took Gatorade and water in
2:20 for the marathon. My ideal is:
5K - watered down gatorade (and continuing every 10K after this, i.e. 15K, 25K, etc)
10K - Gel and water (and continuing every 10K after, so 10K, 20K, 30K, etc)
Basically alternating gatorade and gels every 5K.
30 mins before the race I do a gel.
Breakfast ~4 hrs before the race.
