Hi everyone,
I had a 9 month stress fracture in my 4th metatarsal and in the cuboid of my left foot last December. I did not weight bearing for about 8 months, with the exception of a few week-long periods where I tried to run again. Each time, the pain was so sharp when I'd first start to run that I was convinced it was still broken and would have to stop. Eventually I was able to work through the pain, and around the 9 month mark I was able to consistently run again. Over several weeks, the soreness in my foot (which was exacerbated by the running and would hurt during any type of weight bearing activity, including walking) started to subside, and at one point o was almost running pain free. Then, about a week and a half ago, I did 8 100 meter stridwes on the track, and I think that reaggravated it, because now my foot hurts even to walk again, and the sharp pain in the beginning of my runs is back. I am nervous because I heard that once the fracture heals, that is when it is most vulnerable to re-fracturing, and seeing as I have missed 2 and a half seasons of collegiate competition at this point, am scared as to how much more time I will have to do wait before I can run pain free. Any advice?
