I came across a thread from the past which looks at ranking 5k times - see below.
20+: not worth talking about. old people, fat people, woman, etc
19-20: mediocre high schoolers
18-19: average high schoolers
17-18: above average high schoolers
16-17: elite high schoolers
15-16: win state or just about any road 5k
14-15: the most elite college runners, professionals
13-14: national record holders, professionals
sub 13: probably 20 people ever
I was wondering if we could do the same for 10k. Seen as 10k is not really a high school event and more of a common open age event which attracts the masses, maybe it is not just as simple to double the above, and certainly for post high school / college - I suspect 10k is more popular and interesting to analyse.
Any thoughts?
