It has been quite a while since he raced Dubai, which seemed like a huge mistake considering the fact that have no appearance fees and it was a quick turn around from Chicago. anyone have any insight at all?

less
eh who cares? He's just another east african at this point - maybe top 20, maybe top 30.

Agip, you never really seem to be in touch with reality sometimes. Bekele beat and played with Farah in the half marathon and won the Paris marathon. The list is very short for runners who have beaten Farah in his post-2011 form.

1) KB beat farah 2 years ago! in a HM! In 2003 Farah wasn't much of a half marathoner. It was a 1 second win - doesn't mean much, sitting here in the fall of 2015.
2) yeah, he won Paris. So did Stanley Biwott (2015), Peter Some (2013) and Mark Korir (2012). Outstanding runners, but not exactly a list of megastars. Like I said, KB is top 20, top 30. Which is great - it's just not the KB of old.
3) reality is that KB is just another east african. He can have a good race and play with the top talent, as can any of hte top 20/30...but he's more likely to be one of those guys who hangs with the pack for 30k and then fades.
What reality is it that makes KB one of the best marathoners in the world? All you have is Paris, which tends to be won by top of the second tier type runners. It's not convincing to me.

The only way to convince you of his relevance, is to see him have a great current result. Which is what the op was posing as a question. Troll on dude.
His only marathon was among the fastest DEBUTS ever, no?
Coming off an injury he beat invincible Mo in a kick finish, in the UK no less.
I don't understand how a "ripe" Bekele, who is the fastest runner ever and the undisputed GOAT, is somehow deemed another "mid-pack" East African.
But I know you're full of shit and trying to stir the pot so carry on.
Like the OP I am curious when, not if, Bekele unloads on everyone again.
Kenenisa was in Ethiopian tv sport program a week ago, and he said he will be ready for rio Olympics, either in the marathon and/or 10k. but on the show he looks like a businessman than a runner. I might find the interview and posted it here if anyone interested
All majors are announcing their fields, no sign of Kenny. That's a shame.
Give it up, stop living in the past
Its a Mo time now, whether you like it or not
bekele toyed with mo , bekele won paris , blah , blah blah
wake up n smell the coffee , let the people of the past rest in peace , buds

He heard there's going to be a crowd-funded $1MM prize for breaking the 5k world record. Back to the track.
Kennester is going to toy w/ the field in Rio considering he's the best tactician & it won't be a time trial.
He should run the race in Scotland where Geb will run his last competitive race. Bekele should make it his last race as well.

This is a very keen insight. What remains of Kenenisa's kick is enough to destroy a true marathoner.

If you think Bekele has nothing left to give, you're delusional.
Within the entire community of letsrun, is there not one person who has a connection that can give us any insight on the status of Bekele? The guy is the SAME age as Farah, so people need to lay off about him being too far past his prime. It's sickening for me to see pictures of Farah back when he was 25, 26 and getting smoked, yet at 32 he's running 3:28 and owns the world from 3000 on up? I hope Bekele comes back and puts Farah in his place. Let's see how cheery he is after that. Anyone who does not believe that Farah has been using something to enhance his performances is delusional.
LOOOOL why Mo's winning make you sick to your stomach ? Has he killed your father and raped your mother ? WOW
Do you think Bekele was using something when he was winning ?
