CPT ran 3:34 this year. The best NCAA athlete only ran 3:36.
Fiona Benson ran 4:05 this year. The best NCAA athlete only ran 4:08.
Big gap.
These are just facts. Deal with it...

There is not nearly the depth in Canada that there is in the NCAA.
CIS is typically as competitive as a good DI league.
This is an apples to oranges comparison. Canada is 35mm people, no real culture of sports scholarships like the NCAA etc.
In an Olympic year, will FIona go pro? She has the ability to make a final, which in the w800 right now equals a shot for a medal.

Agreed, there are less slow runners (aka "depth") in the 1500m in the CIS than in the NCAA...
However, the top runners (men and women) are heads and shoulders ahead of the NCAA.
Fiona was also faster @ 800m than the fastest (women) runner in the NCAA.
And the second best NCAA 5000m guy ran 13:07 this summer, three seconds ahead of the new Canadian national record.
...furthermore, there are actually 3 women in the CIS that ran faster than the fastest NCAA 1500m runner...
Facts are sometimes painful to hear...

That's interesting, but since this thread is about the fact that the top CIS 1500m runners totally dominate the NCAA runners, I'd like to know how fast he was over 1500m this year.

Ok, found it. 3:38.98... That's almost 5 seconds slower than CPT's 3:34.23.
Some people can't handle the truth...
The NCAA has more people break 3:40 to qualify for NCs than all of Canada. You are a moron.

Nobody cares about #2 or #3 or even less #10
I'm talking about #1 both on the men and women side...

.
However, please feel free to post again if you find an NCAA runners who have run faster than 3:34 (men) and 4:05 (women) this year.
Actually people care quite a bit about #2 #3 etc
The fact that CIS athletes posted faster times out of season is anomalous in the extreme.
Qualifying for CIS requires 3:49, which puts it on par with a 2nd tier DI conference.
CPT is one athlete. His performance speaks loads about him, nothing about CIS vs NCAA.
Top 5 university 1500 Canucks.
Mens: CPT, Riva, Proudfoot, Knight, Denault (all 3:40.?? or better)....pretty solid top 5 right there
Ladies: Benson, Gollish, Stafford, Thompson, Inglis (all under 4:13). And if you don't want to include Gollish due to age then Watts?? Teschuk???

Well, I care about #1. Please feel free to start another thread that focuses on the #2s, #7, #26 or #1052...
However, as I said before, coincidently the #2 and #3 CIS women are also faster than the NCAA #1 in the 1500m. You may want to start your other thread by mentioning that.
Anyway, let's focus on #1 in this thread.
A heads up Can-Am meet would be a disaster to the NCAA especially.
Especially if it's a drug tested meet.
USA might win womens 100 mens 10,000
I guess we'll just ignore that Charles was born in 1990 and is 25 years old
If we are talking #1, a U.S. High School girl ran two seconds faster than Fiona for 1500.
Just sayin'.....

Actually, CPT is born on Dec 30th, he's 24 y.o., like the fastest NCAA 1500m runner in 2015 (Colby Alexander).
I can understand your frustration and understand why you are trying to come up with excuses to explain this fact. But given time, you will start accepting it and you will eventually be at ease with it and have peace in your heart.

Ok, that's interesting. However, i'll help you relate it to the topic of the thread, which is that the top CIS 1500m runners (male and female) have run faster than the top NCAA runners (male and female) in 2015.
Efraimson ended up running the 1500m more than 5 seconds faster than the NCAA leader in 2015. Her superiority over the 1500m runners in the NCAA system may have contributed to the fact that she gave up her NCAA eligibility and therefore did not enter the NCAA system this fall.
In 2015, the women running the 1500 in the CIS system were stronger than the women running the 1500 in the NCAA system. Benson has run 4:05 this summer (faster than the 2016 Olympic standard), but in addition to her, two other CIS women have run 4:07 this summer. Both of them will be shooting for the Olympic standard of 4:06.0 next summer. Note that, according to T&F news, only one NCAA woman has ever run sub 4:06 (Simpson) in the history of the NCAA.
Perhaps, Efraimson could consider competing in the CIS system. The level of competition may be better for her. Just a thought.
