Will wearing Hoka One One shoes make my legs weaker?

Instead of strengthening your legs to take a pounding, maybe try not pounding. Try running a mile or two barefoot on a rocky trail. You\\\'ll find that pounding hurts a lot more than not pounding and no amount of toughening up is going to make pounding two miles out on a rocky trail not hurt. Anyway I think it just boils down to hip flexibility, maybe not in every direction like being able to do the side splits but having a degree or two more travel in your hips. Yeah so I think what you should be aiming for is not pounding, not just covering up pounding with tough bones or soft shoes.

Barefoot on a rocky trail? Broken glass works so much better.

Rotate shoes. E.G. racing flats for fartleks/speed, regular shoes for easy days and hokas for long runs. Don't run always the same pace and don't always use the same terrain and shoes.

I use Bondi for half of my weekly mileage and a rotating flat for the other half. I call myself a confused runner bc of the spectrum opposites. I tried going exclusively with Hokas, but Achilles issues always popped up.

I had the same fears but in the end, they helped me. The trick is to keep your legs adapted to running fast on hard surfaces by using your regular shoes on tempo and intervals runs. For long runs, where pace is of less concern, use the Hokas. You'll find you'll be able to increase your weekly mileage more comfortably that way. And with greater mileage comes performance gains.

(It's really not all that different than doing long runs on soft trails rather than concrete. Hokas turn the concrete into soft dirt.)

So I'll give them a try looks like the bondi and the conquest are my two options. Anyone know which of these models is better or are they about the same? How long do Hokas generally last?

So I brought the shoes in size 11. When I added them to my cart, the tab said Instock:sold out. But it let me go ahead with the order. After I completed my order, the size 11 option was not available anymore? Does anyone know what this means? Did I buy the last sale pair or something?

Running in softer shoes will actually increase your leg stiffness (response) when you then move to normal flats!

It could make your ankles weaker permanently. Flip your ankle once and then you will be more likely to do it again. Anything that lifts you higher off the ground will act as a lever arm that in my opinion increases the potential for flipped/rolled ankles particularly on un-even terrain. If you are just plodding then it should be fine but if you are running at a half decent speed then I would stick with something lower.

A Hoka Clifton 2 has a stack height of 29/24 mm. A Nike Pegasus has 29/19 mm. Asics Cumulus 30/20 mm. Sucony Ride 27/19.
