Who?

Oops. Lagat.
No, but he has a good chance to place high. WC runners have yet to recovery from the jet-lag, "peaking", and smog from Beijing.
13.12. Sub 13 is long gone for daddy.
No chance. Go all in on "No".
That would be quite something. He's almost 41 y.o. now...
Sub 13:10 would seem pretty likely. It was cool seeing him go 12:58 2 years ago in Brussels though at 38 (almost 39).
You are dreaming. No way. This is a b level field. Only guys with sub-13 PRs are Isiah Koech, Choge and Lagat.
Choge hasn't broken 13 since 2006 (did have a 13:00.xx in '09 though) and
Isiah Koech hasn't gone sub-13 since 2013 and has been down this year, only 8th at Worlds and 10th in Rome (his only other big time 5K this year).
Lagat is past his prime, no sub-13 in 2 years now ... 13:14 SB, way out of it at USAs, 3:57 and 3 secs off the winner in a glacial mile in London.
This will be a 13:15-20 type race, I would guess.
Choge is the all-time 800-5000 GOAT and will lead Lagat to a 12:55, maybe
Yes, surprisingly weak field. Fastest SB on the entry list is 13:07...
I'd love to see someone follow the paces closely for once in a 5.
No

For a while I was afraid that we would not get our daily dosis of Wigins stupidity. Luckily I was wrong.
I'll fix the heading for you guys.
The pacer is scheduled to bring them to 3000 in 7:55 so it does not look like they will even attempt a sub 13

tx. perhaps a season's best.
Paul Koech (the steepler) wins in 13:08.87.
Mead 2nd, maybe 13:10-11. Lagat 3rd in 13:17. Isiah Koech lead behing pacer a long way, then fell off completely ... looks like he ran around 13:30.
German paced the first K (2:40), then Rono took over ... 5:15/7:58. Dropped with about 3 laps to go.Field hit 4K in 10:39. Pretty uneven pacing in the end ... 2:40/2:35/2:43. After 1K Rono put down two laps of 63 then 61.
Last K 2:29. Maybe a 57.xx last lap for Koech. Lagat was there with a lap to go, but ran a 65/66 it looked like.
Choge was a no show ... no surprise really. Forgot to mention in my first post that, as far as I can tell, he hasn't raced at all this year.

Probably retraining himself to storm the 10,000 with a bunch of 26:30's and cement his 800+ GOAT status.
