Member of MENSA. Sub 13:30 is about equally impressive.
15:00 5k, I'm pretty sure.
MENSA is open to anyone in the top 2% of IQ. Everyone has an IQ, so of the ~320 million Americans, 6.4 million are eligible to be in MENSA.
Since MENSA's admission requirement is open to all, we have to also count the whole population when thinking about sub-15 5k runners. By the most restrictive requirement—people who have broke 15 in the past year, or few years—you'd get what, 5,000-20,000 runners?
Now, BEING in MENSA is a little different than being ELIGIBLE to be in MENSA. MENSA has 57,000 members in America. I can guarantee you there are fewer people than that in the US who have run under 15 for 5k in the past few years.
I'm less sure about the broadest category: people who have EVER broken 15:00. That is a lot harder to calculate. It's still not 6.4 million, though.
Do you know what the word "impressive" means? I am not impressed with either, being that I have the requisite IQ and running credentials. Remember that both go "abilities" go away, so that very few people in their 40s can run a 15 min 5k, and very few people in their 70s can score high enough on an IQ test to be in Mensa. Neither are impressive to me.
5k
Mensa is a racket . . . people pay dues for the privilege to say they are in the club and to be self-important with each other.
I was tested for free but I know that many people pay good money to get the certified test score . . . just to pay more money to a group of puffs.
Both, particularly the 15;00 5K if your female. On a relative basis, the 15:00 5K either male or female. Latent IQ you are born with, don't really have to work for it, you either have it or you do not. The 5K time takes hard work, talent or no talent.
DEFINITELY MENSA!
Being a member of MENSA automatically means you are a natural born leader and problem solver and you possess an array of skills that simply cannot be taught. Studies show that being a member of MENSA is the single greatest predictor in finding a successful Fortune 500 CEO.

3/10
You must remember that this IS letsrun.com and nether measure is considered all that impressive here.
A 15:30 5K is average for this site, if not below. Fully 36% or more have run under 15:00 for 5K. And top 2% of intelligence? Hmmph. The average letsrunner is in the top 0.2. No matter that they can't spell, think they're is equal to their, or your is the same as you're, and that they are racist, sexist haters, and equality of humankind is a dirty concept. By darned they are fast and smart here.

+1
was both Mensa and (barely) sub-15 5000.
i had to shower after both - mensa group was so completely not to my liking - in the 5000 i sweat a lot.
i'm neither anymore. mensa by choice. sub-15 by getting old.

Bullcrap.
Make that neither measure.

Your IQ doesn't change too much. You don't have nearly the degree control over it as your ability to get in great shape.
Anyone who would actually join MENSA should be ineligible.

This is actually pretty much completely true.
I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.
