Solid run from Galen today. And an impressive 5th place.
Still, three years ago he got a silver right behind Mo, and no other Americans could touch him.
Will he ever come close to his best times?

Rupp would have won if he had a drink.
nope. saw him drinking multiple rounds of sake while training in japan.
To his best times? Yes. I think he will beat his 5000M PB. He just needs to get into a fast 5000M. If Ritz could run 12:56 back in 09' than Rupp could do that now. As far as medals. Its getting very difficult to see how that happens. This WC race was the clearest evidence yet that Rupp has lost some top end speed. In his 2012 form, he should have been seriously challenging Geb for the bronze. On the other hand, I estimate Rupp ran a 56 second final lap. He held off True. So he hasn't suddenly lost a whole bunch of speeds as certain people on this board contend to try and justify the doping allegations.

He'll be back when this USADA thing is settled.
No is three years older than Rupp, the plan has always been:
Farah rules 2011-2015
Rio is all about Rupp.
Beijing was a tune up for Rupp. He now has 12 months to solidify his own 2:20/1:48/52 finish.
He still closed his 5000m in 1:51 after running a 27:08 10000m and 13:20 5000m in the last week, both with fast finishes.

He looks like he just needs a few more races and he'll be in pr form. His 27:08 was pretty solid considering conditionsand the ridiculously slow first lap.
Considering his indoor season and usa's , he's moving in the right direction heading into 2016.

Rupp is 28 or 29 and this is his peak. He will never win gold medals Olympic or Worlds. He's hit is vertical limit so to speak. Mo may finally lose to Father Time in Rio, but Rupp won't get any better than he is now in terms of championship medals, perhaps a new PR or two but that's it.

There were no conditions. The weather was fine. 78 degrees at night witg a breeze is good running weather.
Clarifying my post. I believe Rupp can definitely medal in the 10000M in the next two years. But 5000M? The prerequisite to medaling these days is about a 54 sec final lap. Increasingly that seems to be out of Rupp's range.

Since when is 78 degrees and smoggy, polluted air good running weather for a 10k?
The time was fine, but if it was 63 degrees and better air quality, their times would easily been 20-25 seconds faster, his performance in the 10k was about equivalent to his 10k AR at Pre last year
Rupp hasn't gotten worse, the other americans have gotten better. I'm personally hopeful for rupp at next years olympics. Same with Ben True, I think he'll take something from this years words and apply it to next year. Hill seems like he getting fitter, so not sure, but who knows where he'll be next year. I wouldn't count him out with that kick.

Looks like Rupp and his failing finish outkicked Hill in this one.
something is missing, could be the twins at home, or Salazar DRAMA, but yes something is off. I am not even sure why he ran the 5k, not once did he go to the front, not once was he active. I mean for gods sake your a silver medalist, go to the front and play with the pace. I mean why not. all I see is him eyeing the rail, as Salazar would say -gotta run the shortest distance. lastly, sell the house, leave behind papa Salazar, and start a new.
Rupp just handed it to True and Hill.
Damn impressive, if you ask me.

I'd expect him to close that fast when the first kilometer or so was pedestrian (so tired of these pansy-ass championship finals). It's painful to watch Rupp try and accelerate these days. He looks so stiff - no knee lift and he can't drop his shoulders.
Yes. He's done.
He doesn't have any more races this World Championships.
Didn't Rupp and his wife have twins earlier this year? Being a new parent takes a ton out of you. It would make it hard to be at his peak this year. Don't count him out yet.
I think he'll slowly slink away. Still might run some fast times, but no more medals and probably never another sub-13/sub-27.

I think Rupp is in the form of his life right now. If he can run recover from doublign this week, the AR may go down in Zurich or Brussels( Forgot which one he's running the 5k in).
He's definitely in sub 13 shape. ANyone remember when Ritz was 6th in the 10k in 2009 in 2722. No one paid attention to it as Bekele was like dominant in the 2650s.
Ritz went out and ran 1256.
Well Rupp just was 5th and no one paid attention but he ran 2708.
The AR in the 5k may be rupp in a few days.
