Could Eaton train and race a sub 1:44?
Could Eaton train and race a sub 1:44?
4:14 1500m
45.00 400m
Both of those times are way slower than Juantorena's. What does his size and weight have to do anything? Looking like someone doesn't mean you are as fast as someone.
If he ran a 400 meter without other events he is at least 44.9X if not a shade lower than that. In normal years his 45 flat would be on the bubble to make a world final. But sub 44 seems to be the new normal....
That's after a few events.... wrote:

Not necessarily. Those other events possibly provided a continual warmup and not any fatigue at all.
...so is Damian Warner I guess...
...I think that Eaton and Warner have the best build for the decathlon. I bet you that Eaton will go over 9100 points one day and that Warner will eventually go over 9000 points...
No way is Eaton 185 pounds. The internet is full of false weight claims for athletes.
Pic of Eaton on scale or no 185.

Yes, because height and weight completely determine one's 800m capability.
Didn't realize he ran a 1:55 indoors a few years back. 10.2 100 45.00 400. I'd bet he could run 44.5 or better with a specific year of training. It would probably take 2 years to go close to 1:45 though.
Looks like Juantorena might have been and inch taller. Pretty big for an 800 world class runner but certainly possible.
Ashton has run 1:52.x in a spur-of-the-moment time trial
