A bit late for the Pole Vault but:
http://www.iaaf.org/competitions/iaaf-world-championships/15th-iaaf-world-championships-4875/live63,63 for Eaton so far in the javelin...
4:18 1500M gives him the WR. I think he can do that.
I came to Letsrun this morning to check if there were any threads on his world record potential after noticing he only need 1617 point to break his world record with two events to go.
With his PRs he would score 1688. However, his throws have not been close to his PR this competition and this year. That javelin of 63.63 was a decent boost though.
After nine events, he is sitting at 8216, which 823 off his world record. He needs to run a 4:18.25 or lower to break his world record. I hope he will go it and the other athletes will help with pacing.
Where is Curtis Beach when you need him???
The WR will be broken and Warner will set a nice national record for Canada in second place since he only needs 699 pts!
thanks for updating this thread while i slept a bit
he needs 4:18.25 as mentioned
hope he doesnt go out in 45
HE GOT IT 4:16!!!!!!!
9045
i called 9046 originally, i'd like to point out
probably one of the fastest last 200s ever for a 4:16 race
i didn't think he had it until he crossed the line...i saw his bell lap split and got worried
just FYI, i've got a thread about his WR attempt here
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=6719023&page=1
where i called 9049, (he scored 9045)
Unreal.
It looks like he had let it slip away. He needed to average 68.6667.
71.01 for eaton after one lap.
top three start to separate and eaton goes with him.
the wave breaks out on the first lap of the race in the stands.
71.2 (2:22.2 at 800) he’s in second behind algeria.
algerian starts to pull away iw69.9 (3:32.1 at 1200.
he’s kicking hard now on backstretch, gaining on algerian. crowd roars and rises to its feet.
29.6 last 200.
he got it!!!
Don't forget the 100, LJ, and 110H were a combined headwind for the three. He left a 100 points on the track from a lack of wind alone. Aren't they allowed to avg 3.0 m/s tail wind for the three?
He could easily get in to the 9100-9200 range at Rio with a nice tail wind while staying consistent in the jumps and throws. Incredible.
any link for this? I want to see this finish!

Would that be from your first post on this thread where you wrote:
"I'm predicting he scores 9020 at least, officially I'll predict a new WR of 9049."
?
He didn't have much help as far as pacing. Not that any runner should help him out. But I would have guessed some runner would set a pace Eaton wanted up to the last lap, then let the 400M running take over. But the Algerian was a little too fast to stick with and everyone else was too slow.
Actually, the Algerian was the perfect rabbit on the last lap. For a fast-twitch guy like Eaton, running very conservatively for the first portion, then making up the time on the last lap is critical, using lactate system instead of aerobic system. The Algerian was just the right guy to draw this out of Eaton.
29.6 last 200? beaks 9000? Some college kid steps out of Oregon and is better than any Decathlete ever, a sport/event clearly riddled with steroid use (any sport based sprints throws and jumps would be). He can run near a 4:30 mile?
Science fictions I tells ya.
That's it, I quit.
I am never watching Track again.
Ashton Eaton you make me sick, you phony.
Cancel my subscription to this charade.
This is the WWE basically.
Track used to be so pure. This is so depressing.
(I mean none of that, but I figured I would be the first to post it here, since this is what you see on every thread about every good performance, and was gonna eventually show up on here)
His throws kind of suck. Needs to do more x-fit.
Great sprints and jumps though.
