These top dogs need to look back at John Ngugi's 1988 Olympic GOLD, 5000m performance if they want to have any shot at beating Farah. Trying to put the hurt on Mo with 400-800 or even 1600m won't work against this guy. I don't recall anyone ever trying to pull a Ngugi against him. Ngugi took it out with 10 laps to go. By the time they tried to reel him back in it was too late.
It would take a really brave runner to attempt such a surge. But, to me, it's a better tactic than jogging for 10 laps and getting out kicked.Ngugi ran one of the gutsiest performances in track history. He threw down the challenge, pretty much ran solo, and nobody went with him. If Mo is going to win GOLD in RIO at least make him bleed to win it!
