Only medal was a bronze, coming from a guy who needs kidney surgery. This one hurts a lot.

My theory is that because of the depth in these hurdles events in the US-the fine tuning necessary going over the hurdles, the chances of a false start, clipping a hurdle ...falling down are increased every race. These world class American hurdlers go through the season and manage to stay sharp despite the tight competition but when another variable of WC pressure is added...that's another variable to deal with. It seems to me that the medaling hurdle athletes don't have to deal with the consistent "competition" over the season and a bit more "copa-cetic" when it came to the WC semis and final. I think the American hurdlers should lighten their pre-Olympic competition load next year...if they can afford to.
David Oliver is one of my favorite athletes, but just because of his consistency. The championships bring out more top-end people. I don't think over-competing impacts him much. He's just not as fast as some of the other guys.
I don't know WTF happened on the women's side.
All of the hurdlers seem super friendly with each other, they're all laughing and embracing In a very genuine way after the race. I guess these guys really get to know each other since they race constantly.
I thought Oliver would win but since he didn't run a great race I'm not surprised at Shubenkov who, though he doesn't win too often, is almost always 2nd or 3rd because he's so consistent, maybe even moreso than Oliver.
I love the high hurdles you never really know what's going to happen
