Both in complete control. Look for Kiprop 1st, Willis 2nd, and makhloufii 3rd. Pity to see O'Hare in such a great position with inly 100m to run, but left out of the final.

Problems with Willis:
1) He's 32
2) He over cooked that last 300, going faster than everyone else by nearly a 100
3) He's crossed the line 6th or worse in his last race at Worlds/Olympics 6 of 7 times in his career.
Maybe he's found the fountain of youth or something like that. I think he ran too hard to close that race, and he's generally stunk in this situation.
Meant 1 second not 100 there
Willis looked amazing.
I am not a fan of Centro (nothing to do with NOP or doping allegations, etc. - just not a fan of cocky runners) but he ran an extremely intelligent race.

That's because Centro is THE MAN.
1500m for arab peaple . Not for others
His change of gears on the home straight was very convincing - it looked so smooth and relaxed.
Willis, Kiprop, and Macdopper for the medals.

I think you forgot something.

You mean like that silver medal from the Olympics? Muppet.

your points are good, but having followed his career pretty closely, this year seems to be his best.
He was hurt in 2013, and since then he's run 3:29 twice! and 3:49. He's learned from his mistakes, and is probably in peak form right now, unlike 2012 when he overtrained.
I don't think he'll finish worse than 5th, which is still pretty dang good.

He's 32! Sheesh. Fountain of youth?
With his long spindly legs, I'm surprised Kiprop has never fallen (?). If that were to happen, it would become a free-for-all (unless Makh has timed his "training" as in 2012)
Isn't Farah 32?

And what age was Lagat when he ran his 5000m PB?

Totally disagree.
1) Age - irrelevant. He ran 3min29 this year and if anything he is more battle-hardened and stronger than ever
2) You think so? What I saw was a guy totally relaxed at 150m to go - some 2-3 meters off a front group that Kiprop and Centro aside, were flat to the boards. However there was not an ounce of panic and it was a simple case of holding his form and running through the line better than anyone in both races.
3) You speak as if executing World and Olympic finals are a piece of cake. As someone I am pretty certain is clean he has been up against I'm sure some of the best dopers in the business. Eliminate those guys and tell me what his record is (Olympic SILVER aside).
Might not mean anything but heats and semis in Beijing Nick Willis has looked the best out of everyone in that field.
Seeing how fast Willis finished today, it's hard to believe that he was out-kicked by Ben True in the Adidas Grand Prix 5K in June.

In his post, Jimmy said Willis was 6th or worse, in six of the last seven, indicating he was better then 6th once...ie, the silver medal you mention.
1. You might be right on age. I worry about his close after (IMO) he worked the hardest in his semi. I think it looked deceptively good.
2. I think this is how it appeared, but I don't think how it is. We can revisit after the final. If he is as fresh/spry as everyone says, he should do no worse than silver.
3. Certainly not, but I don't really want to get into the doping stuff. Certainly 50 second 400s to close 1500s are rarely done by 32-year-old. So if people want to ID his rivals as doped based on their performances... I know Iguider's constantly assumed to be doped, but he's very consistent and has as regular progression as Willis. Makhloufi who knows, but he's no Ramzi. Kenyans have pretty reasonable stuff. Americans, too.

Willis you never know. He looked phenomenal in the 2012 OG heats, then ran out of steam in the final.
