Still in shock. He was even surprised and pumped his arms at the finish.
Previous best of 45.55 in an open 400.
He now runs 45.00 at the end of day 1 of the decathlon.

Wake make up when he is BUFF enough to compete in the CrossFit (R) Games (TM).
This is like the Monaco track of 400m running
Would have finished 7th in the 400m as a stand-alone event. Pretty damn impressive.
wonder where 25-10 would place him on the long jump? or 10.23 for that matter? dude is a beast.
Holy Cow! 4703 points after day 1

True, though all those guys had 2 rounds in their legs to be fair. But still, crazy impressive.

Yeah but on the same day before this, he had already done
1 heat of the 100 M
3 attempts at the LJ
3 attempts at the shot
8 attempts at HJ
Not sure how much all that takes out of you but they were all same day events before the 400
The long warmup all day does him some good.

I don't understand you! Why aren't you happy? The IAAF is happy, the athletes are happy, the spectators are happy. The 1st official world pharmaceutical championship will be great!
Yeah-assuming he doesn't no height the pole vault and runs the 1500 at a decent pace-he will be around 9000! being a Canuck-pulling for Warner but really the race is for 2nd...
Eaton is the male Schippers: in looks, size and sprint ability.

Exactly, this was the most suspicious men's performance in Beijing.
Not at all, i expected him to be close to sub 45. He'd run a fantastic 100 time this year, and his 10.23 into a slight wind was great today. Last year he focused on the 400h's, and his 100 speed is at it's best, so when it mattered most at a peak a 45 seemed reasonable.
This throwing events have suffered since 2013, but his 400 should have been expected to improve.
Wonderful athlete - maybe most impressive collection of PBs in the history of athletics.
World class (or very close to) in the 100m, 400m, 110mH, 400mH, LJ.
And for sure WR holder in the decathlon.
Uhm, what is his nationality?

I've cleaned up this thread as I think a few people misunderstood the title and thought we thought Eaton's performance was 'too good to be true.' Far from it.
The guy is a SICK athlete.
He ran 48.69 in the 400h last year.
Look, we consider ourselves leaderes in the anti-doping movement but some of the talk at these worlds are driving me nuts.
Here my new policy. If I see post that says, "doper" with no reasoning behind it, then it will be deleted by me. It's fine if you want to say, "Wow, does anyone think running a .55 pb at the end of 5 competitions is a sign of PED use?"
Thanks Ashton,
Awesome! These performances are what should be talk of the Decathlon, not some Bruce J. halloween costume.
