That's not really how global warming, better called climate change, works.
If you're talking about the atmospheric conditions (temperature, precipitation, cloud cover) in any one location at any given time, you're talking about the weather. Climate change doesn't have a huge effect on average, everyday weather -- it manifests itself more in extreme events, and in long term conditions.
An example of an extreme event is the impending El Nino. The ENSO region of the pacific region is scheduled to absolutely shatter records in terms of its warmth, which will lead to the strongest El Nino ever by this December. While the phenomenon of El Nino is normal, the extremity of this event is likely caused by warming ocean waters, and wind patterns being altered by the melting arctic ice. By this winter, much of the world will see either extreme precipitation or exteme drought, extreme heat or unseasonably low temperatures.
This is how climate change work. And I believe the thousands of scientists who've spent years getting their PhD on the subject (on my way myself!), more than I believe ideological basement trolls like "Liberalism=a mental disorder". Human activity has at least some, if not major, part in the large-scale climate change
of the last 120 years.
..........yeah, but over time, obviously Global Warming would result in warming temperatures - on average - at any given time/place. That's the exact reason why you see so many pro-GW articles come out when a particular month/year is among the "warmest recorded".
However, no one will EVER provide an answer for what the ideal average temperature should be on planet Earth.
So his question makes perfect sense. And the answer in my state is probably like .07 of a degree warmer. It's been both MUCH warmer and MUCH colder in the distant past, so nothing for us to freak out about. And certainly nothing for my ultra-lib buddies to ruin parties over.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!

Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
