What an idiot move!! That kid could have been a much better target for a better sponsor. Isn't he f*cking Canadian? He could have gotten a Canada-based company that had international marketing. Another athlete warped into the nike fog.

Are you daft?
Unless Nike signed him for $500,000 or better, he could have had a $1 million company PLUS Nike, PLUS about 5 more companies to come in for another 200K. Unf*ckingbeliveable.
Canadian companies do NOT sponsor Track athletes - that is why they either go to the US or are basically broke (even with Carding money).
No one cares about Pole Vaulters anyway, so he should take what he can get in advance of the Olympics. No one will care after the Olympics either, so again take the money now and run (or jump) with it.
Degrasse should do the same, then go to school on his own dime.
Both of these guys are NCAA champs with World Senior medals - cash in while the money is flowing. Be an idiot not to IMO.
Look, I couldn't give a flying f*ck about a pole vaulters. My handle was more a jab at Bubka after he lost the IAAF election. Having said that, my post was directed because I intern for a sports marketing company. I know the numbers that were kicked around. I am also Canadian, we had a clean athlete. I am told Barber will be the world record holder someday so I took special interest in him.
As my boss said, it was a lot of money left on the table in that deal. I'm a business major so I care about these things.
