Dude, that sucks. There has got be some way you can get your parents to let you run. You have had an awesome summer and are looking great for the summer. Best of luck.

If your parents are punishing you by not letting you run they might be freakin' retarded.

So they should take away something he doesn't care about?

Sorry about that, that really sucks. I know how you feel, I wasn't allowed to go to foot locker when I got in trouble last year, and now I just injured my hip. I'm only supposed to be out for the week, but six days in it doesn't feel any better, so I'm getting kinda worried. I've been trying to keep up my regular schedule except in pool running, but it just doesn't feel the same. I'm pissed because I really wanted to go 16:45 this season and make the state team, but may have to readjust my goals :(
"I'm gonna punish my kid by not letting him exercise" stay cool america
I will post my week recap tomorrow, still gotta get my longrun in tomorrow. Sorry to here you cannot run for the rest of the month, that really sucks. Maybe you can swim or bike instead? Or if not I would just focus on strength work. I don't think one week will hinder your progress that much, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
1.) Sorry about the bad news Tdodd. I would hate for someone to take something that I love away from me even if its for a short period of time. Just be patient and it will all work out.
2.) My week went as follows.
Mon: 2 miles warmup, 1 mile in 6:20 1 mile cooldown (more on this later).
Tue: AM 4 miles recovery. (8:30) PM 4 miles easy (8:10) , 5x100m strides + buildup workout.
Wed: OFF
Thu: 1 mi warmup, 4 miles cutdown to 6:10 pace. 4x200m 32-34 walk back recovery (2mins) 1 mile cooldown
Fri: 6 miles easy pace with team (8:00) stride workout 8x100m.
Sat: 4.5 miles recovery (7:50)
Sun: 5.5 miles easy (7:45)
~35miles
Finally back to XC training after a week of basketball that had 3 2hr workouts a day for 5 days (exhausting!!)
Monday was supposed to be 3x mile repeats but my legs were just so fatigued from last week I could barely do one so we just canned it.
Wednesday my coach had me take off and it was a great decision because my legs had that pop in them again!
Thursday we did a workout that was 2 laps 7:20 pace, 2 laps 7:10 pace, working down to 6:10 pace continuously. Then got some speed with the 200s.
Wanted more mileage but because of the terrible smoke from all the fires in the northwest the only available time to run is at 5:00pm albeit I snuck out Tuesday morning to try and shake out the legs.
3.)Great to be back and I'm looking forward to seeing all your weeks!
Okay, someone is trolling. They took me name and put an email on it so I cant use that username. This is TDodd22, I haven't done my long run yet, that is why I haven't posted the mileage thread. Not quite sure what someone's motive was to do this but I guess they either really wanted my name or really didn't like me.

Guys this is not the real me. I've had my name registered since I made it. My name is Tanner Dodd and I go to Riverton high school in Illinois.
TannerD22 is a troll and not the real me.
Dude just quit being an @$$høl3, get a life and quit stalking tanner, most of us will be pissed if you make him stop posting these threads
Thanks man, I think I might have an idea who it is, he like creeps on all of my social medias and asked me some weird questions so I blocked him because I don't even know him. I think that it is probably him.
Yeah he's also made another thread so I reported it
Good, the mods deleted it
Thanks, I'm gonna report this one.
Incoming Junior.
5k PR - 18:57
Mile PR - 4:57
13th week of training.
Previous weeks - 63.8, 63.1, 70.97, 76.5, 62.54
Goal - 70 miles
Monday - 9.04 miles total. Second day of preseason. Did 3.22 miles at 7:00 pace right before practice. During practice, I did an informal fartlek with my coach (assistant coach) on the 5K course. He's a silver medalist 800m from the paralympics, so it was a bit tough at times when he really got going, but it wasn't too bad. Did 2 or so miles of cooldown after, so I came out to 5.82 miles for practice.
Tuesday - 7.1 miles total, third day of preseason
AM - 7.1 miles at 7:17 pace. Kept it easy, it was really really humid out. Wasn't able to go to practice because of an orthodontist appointment, so I just ran on my own instead.
PM - Was planning on doing an easy 5 miler in the PM, but things got in the way. One of the girls on my team who lives nearby told me our coach had given out papers at practice today, and she'd drop by soon to give it to me. Thankfully, her brother (who is going to be a college freshman this year) told me she was lying, and the real plan was for her and two of her friends to come over to my house and attack me with waterguns. With this information, I set up an ambush, which lead to a watergun fight on my front lawn. After things died down, we decided to go around attacking people who live nearby and go to our school with waterguns. We spent about three hours going around and ambushing people. This kinda got in the way of my PM run, but it was a welcome distraction.
Wednesday - 12.15 miles total. Had something going on during the middle of practice, so I had to just run on my own again.
AM - 7.14 miles at 7:31 pace. Super easy, but super hot.
PM - 5.01 miles at 7:28 pace. Still ridiculously hot. I thought after July things would cool down a lot. I guess I was wrong.
Thursday - 11.09 miles total
AM - 5.83 miles. We took a bus for about an hour to a nearby course we'll run on later this season. It was very hilly, but I still managed a nice 7:00 pace without too much effort. Did it backwards (missed a little bit) with the rest of the team when they finished, so the pace was really slow.
PM - 5.23 miles. The same girl who set up the whole watergun attack thing asked me if I wanted to go with her to her dad's middle school XC practice and help out a bit. I ended up running with the top few 7th and 8th graders on their team. They were doing laps on a half mile loop, they were supposed to run easy for most of the time, and for about 200m (which was marked by a set of cones), they had to run a bit faster. It was fun seeing some kids really excited about XC at such a young age. They did the whole cone loop thing for about 2.25 miles, averaging about 7:00 pace. After they were done, I did a solid 3 miles alone, doing 6:32, 6:43, and 6:31. It was the first time in about a month I've run somewhere flat, which was nice. I would have done more, but it started raining really hard, and they made everyone get into their cars.
Friday - 14.23 miles total
AM - 9.21 miles. I did a decent 3 (7:00, 6:45, 6:40) miles alone on a 1 mile gravel track before practice. During practice, my coach wanted to get a 5K estimate for some of the guys. We only had 7 of our 12 guys at practice, 5 of them (the ones who didn't run track) were going to do the time trial, and 2 of them were going to do an easy run. I knew the 2 going for an easy run would go really slow, so I decided I'd just pace the fastest of the 5 doing the TT. We ended up averaging 6:55, which was pretty good in comparison to his PR last year. Afterwards I saw the 2 guys who went for an easy run, and joined in with them to cool down. Like I expected, the pace was really slow.
PM - 5.02 miles at 7:22 pace. Easy shakeout after all the running in the morning.
Saturday - 13.25 miles at 7:40 pace. I forgot to eat breakfast beforehand, which was a bad idea. Kept it nice and easy, and relaxed. Unfortunately, I do almost all my runs on a 2 mile loop around a golf course near my house, which makes long runs like this super boring. Weather was really nice though.
Sunday - 3.87 miles at 9:05 pace. Like I've mentioned before, my coach has us do optional runs on the weekends. For some reason, it got moved to Sunday this week. Due to the way the runs work, the pace is dictated by the slowest person who shows up to practice, which in this case, lead to a pace of 9:05. I guess it's kinda good for recovery or something like that?
Total - 70.24 miles
This week has been kinda weird. The quality of my normal runs kinda dropped, but I had a few higher quality runs mixed in there. Not super happy with it, but I'm going to try and fix it next week.
Next race- XC 2 mile on the 29th. Goal is 11:20
15 year old male, sophomore
track PRs-10:59 and 5:07
M: 5 really easy, super sore from long run on Sunday. First run in new shoes and they felt bad too break in.
T: 6 easy, but I felt like garbage on multiple levels. Back hurt, legs hurt, side stitch. Great way too finish with my last run of the summer haha
W: First day of school, so I have to change training a bit now. It's not exactly how I'd like to do it but it has worked for me before. AM-3.5 easy (9:30s average pace, I am always super slow in the morning) PM- .75 w/u+2.31 (unintentionally) progressive tempo, went 6:45, 6:32, then last .31 at about 6 flat pace. Felt really smooth and didn't realize how much I had sped up. Then got 2x400 about 5-8 seconds faster than 3200 pace in 81 then 77. Then got .50 cooldown
T: 3 easy/ .45 w/u + 1.75 at M pace, coach told me to go faster but I didn't think it was really smart too tempo two days in a row. Hit 6:52 pace for the whole thing. Then did 3x400 on the last 400 of our cross course (where my next race is) and did the last one in spikes. I'm really ticked off that we did the same freaking workout two days in a row but I felt smooth on the 400s. Then got .45 cooldown.
F: 4 easy/ .20 w/u+2 easy+ 4x50m strides on the course.
S: Rest day, I have a shin splint sort of thing going on in my left leg so I didn't want to mess with it. It doesn't hurt bad but I'm just trying to be really safe.
S: 10 mile long run, really easy. Averaged 8:35. I did 100-150 meter pickups every mile after halfway at about 5k-10k effort. Felt good and smooth.
Total: 41.25
This week was just okay, I'd say. It's nice not too have mileage be the focus as much as quality. 40 miles a week was a nice sweet spot for me during track so I think I'll keep it up for most of the season and probably cut to 30-35 in the 1-2 weeks before the state meet. I'm gonna talk to my coach on Monday about setting up a more individualized training schedule because I really don't like his usual philosophy. Lots of tempos, but when we do interval workouts he gives us almost full recovery every time. Gonna talk to him about hard/easy/hard/easy and getting some harder workouts.
