"On paper, this isn't a race; it's a coronation."
Can Americans Jenny Simpson and Shannon Rowbury medal?
Enjoy it for free while you can as it's a disgrace we aren't charging you for it.

Why would I pay for anything you guys right?
I already give you web traffic by going to your website and clicking on your links. So it's not like you're doing this for "free."
Moreover, you guys can barely spell, your syntax is garbage, and most of your insights I've already made for myself.
But it's fun to compare notes.
It was said often when she ran 3'55i WR, she could run 3'50 / 3'51 outdoors.
I'll try to find one of those many threads...

If you were doing this intentionally to be funny, you would have put a few more mistakes to make it obvious. So I'm calling you out on having an error in the first line of a post in which you criticize their "righting".
You almost made it through the first paragraph without a brojoism.
By your standards, this piece is actually well written. Of course, by anyone else's standards, it's not.
The sad part is that it doesn't have to be like this. You could break down and hire a copy editor. Real writers, including journalists, have editors to clean up their prose. Why don't you all?

THANK YOU!!

I agree that the race is a coronation on paper. However, let's consider that Genzebe has NEVER timed her cycle properly (doping cycle and/or training cycle, whatever...).
2012 - 4:00 indoors. This was equal to the world leader from all of 2011. She then opened her outdoor season with a 3:57. At the Olympics, she supposedly suffered an injury and performed terribly.
2013 - 4:00 indoors. She opened her outdoor season with a 3:57 (sound familair?). Wound up 8th in the World Championship 1500m. She finished two tenths behind Zoe Buckman (4:04.8 PR at that time).
2014 - 3:55 indoors. 8:16 indoors. To open her outdoor season, she finished 6th in the Doha 3000m (5 seconds behind the leaders). At the African Championships, Ayana destroyed her by 10 seconds over 5000m.
The 2013 WC race gives me hope. She was beaten by Buckman who (at that time) had a PR 7 seconds slower than hers. 3:50 + 7 = 3:57. This puts Rowbury and Simpson in the mix. I am not saying I think it will happen, but Dibaba is not exactly a "gamer" when it comes to the big stage.
I probably should have read (or at least skimmed) the article before posting as the Brojos touch on this point. Whoops.

The Americans can beat her. Put Morgan Uceny on the team and have her take Dibaba out.

+1
On the article, you said, "The next two are harder to explain away. In 2012, [Dibaba] entered the Olympics as the World Indoor champ; her 3:57.77 was the #3 seed time. She finished 10th in her 1500 heat and didn’t even qualify for the semis. The next year, in Moscow,..."
Cmon man, you made it look like nothing happened to her and finishing 10th in the first heat was all she could do. Why didn't you mention the fact that she got hurt during the race (pulled her hamstring)? I mean she was taken off the track on wheelchairs! Wasn't that important to mention?
