Well I ran about 30 miles a week all summer. What should I do to get ready for Cross Country at this point? Forfeit and focus on Indoor Track?

If you're still in high school than you're fine..we never went much above 30 mpw and we were often a top 15 team in a competitive state

You'll be lagging behind early in the season but you'll at least be fresh in October.

No, he'll be lagging early and be completely toasted by October. You won't have any longevity without a base.
How much were you training during track?
Roughly how fast are you?
If you are struggling to make the team and need to run fast in a month, that is very different from an All-American who only really needs to run fast for a couple of races in November.
So just focus on indoor then?
this is obviously coming from a D2 runner.
To the OP: You are a D1 runner, be a man and run well. Take your time getting in to shape and beast it when October rolls around. This is not a joke. You are D1 act like it.
Im a 4:06 mile guy.
Had a subpart track season while running about 80 mpw.
So are you at a Colorado like school where you have to make the team or an Atlantic 10 team where they only care what you do at conference and regionals?
Just do what I did. In this order... Increase mileage x2 in two weeks, x2.5 the third week. Do all of the same workouts as the rest of the team, who ran this summer, and do them as hard as you can (gotta make up ground!). By October you should have at least one nagging injury, feel terrible all the time, and be running poorly (this is key). Now you will be in a good position to get left at home for all the fun travelling meets. Then, claw your way onto the 8th or 9th spot by conference, get pummeled and go home devastated.
