Whatever happened to her?
Whatever happened to her?
Or her former husband, I ain't seen his name in quite awhile.
I think she's coaching somewhere..Lebanon Valley College in Pa. for awhile anyway.
How 'bout Jill Hunter?...wasn't she married to Bill Reifsnyder at one time..where is she now?
Jill Hunter married Danny Boltz (Switzerland) and changed her name to Jilly Boltz. She moved to Northern England years ago.
Wasn't Danny from NSW?
Ah yes, the former Laura Matson from Bloomfield Hills Andover High in suburban Detroit...she owns the fastest 3000m & 5000m times for a runner from MI at 8:51 & 15:17 and is the MI high school record holder at 1600m at 4:39.4 (when she won by a whopping margin in '85). Her choice of Floride for college puzzled many/everybody but, then again, puzzling folks was par for the course for the lanky gal.
I have a pic of her from a week she spent at Wolverine Cross Camp in '84 w/her walking in the background and me running. She had shin splints at camp and could only do minimal running. Kermit Ambrose was in charge then and Jeff Drenth head counselor.
I've heard she was the model for one of the characters in DMiddleman's book 'Pain'.
My job at the Pittsburgh Great Race 10 km involved directing the flow of runner traffic as they crossed a narrowing bridge near the end and the year Laura won I'm glad I knew her because her very slender build made her look like a man. (It was also my job to direct the first 10 women to a separate chute). She won in a little over 31:00! I'm thinking that's still one of America's fastest 10 km's for a woman.
laura is no longer coaching at lvc, nor does she run much. she had a baby last year.
Jill Hunter lives outside Newcastle, still runs the odd race, think she owns an aerobics centre/gym. She can still turn out with very litle trianing and run about 58 minutes for 10 miles.
Danny Boltz doesn't run anymore but he did race in England when they first moved here fora year or two.

Where is Ann Marie Lauckk
Talented hard driving runner. Clearly psychological instability played a role in success or lack thereof in her running career. She could have some brilliant races and then seemingly self destruct at the most important events. Never made an Oly team, bailed out of world cross one year just before the team left for South Africa I think it was. A tough front runner who surprised many at various times.
I always felt sorry for her because somehow it seemed she didn't have much in her life other than the running. She was a hard worker who seemed to care deeply about her running then you would hear about some hugely crazy thing she did which made it seem like she could give a hangnail about her running.
AML walked away after being riven with injury. Talented, headstrong, over trained like a crazy woman, seemed to do her best running on the roads. Always liked to lead to the detriment of what would have been a better racing strategy designed to give her a higher placing.
I think I remember a thread about 6 mo back that had her running a race with her husband. Again, relying on memory, I think it came out that she is a massage therapist in Hunterdon County, NJ???
Looks like she ran the local Turkey Trot with her husband recently:
Sorry,Bad link:5k/18:17
I don't know the Lauck's personally but the local rag had an article about how she also had Lyme disease sometime after her misfortune in Hawaii. Don't exactly remember the time sequence. Yes, she has been running some local races with her husband, running with and against her HS team mate, Jodie. I met a guy recently on the towpath who had a massage from her and was pleased with the results.
True enough Jill lives in Tyne and Wear area of England, she is also the mother of 2 sweet kids, a little girl and recently a baby boy. She was one of the most talented runners I ever met and also one of the very nicest :o)

hey "turtle souped up" and "hunterdon county":
you guys local jersey/hunterdon county guys? just wondering. moved out her few years ago. did my college running at st.joes. lots of running history in this part.
What ever became of Elaine Van Blunk? Anybody know? She was a Jersey girl or was it Philly?
Laura (Matson) Mykytok was one of the most talented female runners I have ever seen. I watched her run many times as a high schooler in Michigan and I was thoroughly impressed with her speed, endurance, and effortless stride. I defintitely think that she had Olympic potential. I followed her running career somewhat but not completely. I'm not sure what happened to her in the end - I know that she had some good races here and there. I do think that she had the talent to be one of this country's great ones.
