*Thursday*- Goal: Sub 11, and top 10 ; 2.00 miles in 11:04.7 (road race) [90 degrees w/ 90% humidity] 6th place out of 396 runners. Arrived to the race late, only allowing me to get in a 1 mile warm up, then I didn't get in nearly all of the dynamics that I wanted to because of lack of time. I started the race in about 12th, and slowly moved up the whole way because I went negative, and people started falling off of the pace after about 600m. My first mile was a 5:36 I believe, which was WAY too slow. I closed in 5:28, and my last 400 was about a 75 or so according to Garmin connect. Also, I had to cut my cool down short also so I could get back before the awards.
**Saturday**- Decided to do a shorter tempo due to the easy week. I planned to run about 5:50 pace. I opened up the first mile in 5:47, then ran the next mile in 5:48. I felt extremely smooth, and think that this shows that I didn't run up to my potential on Thursday. I'm quite happy w/ how easy the mid-high 5:40 paces are feeling, and how my fitness is shaping up.
Overall, I am happy w/ this week, even though I ran more than half of my mileage in 2 days. I should have ran a double on Tuesday, so I didn't have to cram in 2 doubles in a row at the end of the week. Ready for next week to get back to that 50-60 range, as time goes on my easy weeks will go up in mileage as my hard week will come down due to the quality being added. Towards the end of the season my easy week should be about 42-44 miles and my hard weeks will be 49-53 miles.
Decided to post this today because I'm not running tomorrow, and I respond to some of your training plans in the morning when I wake up.
