Great marketing campaign.
Symmonds stays home devastated.

what's the point of all this? Nick made the decision to forfeit his spot by not signing the terms and condition agreement. What good will this petition do if Nick himself isn't even trying to get back on the team?
Just trying to continue to put pressure on USATF. The goal from all of this is for the policy to change, for future athletes to not be put in this position. I personally would have liked to have seen Clayton Murphy give up Nick's spot and show some solidarity. It would have been a strong message if every other 800m men's runner turned the spot down. I think Nick does want his spot back. He was good with his decision because he stood by his values but he had asked for USATF to meet with him to rewrite the contract language which he then would have signed.

This is moronic. Why should Clayton Murphy "show solidarity" with Nick? Why should anyone if they don't have a problem with the USATF agreement? Nick made the decision on his own, so he can be a big boy and accept the consequences of his actions.
Also, an online petition is about as useful as pissing in the wind. But judging from how much you've been spamming this board with the link, you must be covered in urine at this point.

After all the efforts to publicize this petition, it only has 38 signatures. I'm sure Nike and USATF are feeling the heavy weight of all 38 of those signatures.
The contract already states when to wear the uniform:
"It is your responsibility to bring your entire Team USA uniform. Additionally, you are required to wear the Nike Team USA apparel…at all team functions throughout the trip, including at the athlete hotel, during training, press conferences, competition, and award ceremonies. Accordingly, please pack ONLY Team USA, Nike or non-branded apparel and be sure to bring your Team USA gear."
It's pretty clear to me.
Boycott Nick for being a giant attention seeking girly man.
45 people in. I'd think that if it hits 100, that'll bring USATF to its knees. Good luck!

Link? I saw the contract and it does not state the above.
Sorry ya'll for trying to do some real organizing instead of hiding behind a message board name and throwing insults back at me. This is not an effort to criticize Clayton Murphy. I believe in the power of collective action and think that other athletes should stand up with Nick and back him up. That is how this issue can truly be brought to light and something can be done about it. Maybe it's got thirty or forty something signatures but I just put it on a LetsRun board. Maybe an athlete that supports Nick will share the petition and spread the word on this. Maybe then it catches and someone will take notice who is in power at USATF. This is our sport. This should not happen to other athletes. It would be an amazing thing if other athletes further down the 800 list turned down the spot. It would be great if other athletes going joined him in his efforts.
Cheers,
David
Forgive me for not giving a sh*t about a guy throwing a tantrum about having to wear free clothes that I'd gladly train and run in, especially when Brooks gave him the go ahead for the sake of competing...and that's assuming that this is a legitimate grievance for him and not some self-promoting marketing scheme.
Give it a rest. Most people seem to be siding against Nick on this issue.
The real fight is against the IAAF for letting those failed blood tests slide.
Arguing over what t-shirt Nick wants to wear in the hotel lobby is pathetic.
Fight the real fight, for action on the failed blood tests, if you want to help athletes.
Really? I think some athletes might be fearful to take a stronger stance in support of Nick but most people can see what is wrong in this situation. It takes away from an athlete's relationship with their sponsor (if they are not with NIKE) to limit what they can and cannot wear. Not every activity on this trip constitutes wearing NIKE/Team USA Gear. An athlete's value to their non-NIKE sponsor could be much more valuable if people come together on this issue and do not allow USATF to continue to take away from them.
