Happy August! Thanks everyone for the input on my housing issue last week. complicated decision that will probably play out over a decent amount of time.
fun week of running incl.
6 X 800 (200 jogs) averaging just over 2:48 Tues
16 miles steady Thurs.
today I start 112-day marathon training cycle, aiming for 2:54:48 in Philadelphia (6:40/mile), which would be about 3 mins. slower than most recent marathon (Boston '14) but lines up well with current short race times per predictors. I guess I'd settle for anything under 2:55!
My hope is to be somewhat flexible with it. I think my besetting vice in training is to be too stubborn about hitting the volume and workouts I'd planned for that part of the calendar even if there are early warning signs of injury ahead. It's a fine line obviously -- if I skipped workouts every time I'm tired or busy or have an ache or two, I'd almost never run, but plowing ahead until/unless unable to doesn't work either.
Have a great week,
Dave
