He has literally zero chance of a medal.
He is not a young athlete that needs experience.
His country has a medal contender in this event
No point in sending him just to make up the numbers.
Proof that even a 5000 can be run on pure hate.

You must be a UKA official. No one in their right mind would want to deny any qualified athlete the opportunity to compete. The UKA policy is a disgrace.
Too bad it's too late

You're right. Vernon ran a PB at 10,000 of 27:42 earlier this year and he ran his 5,000 PB of 13:11 last year. Why allow him to run the 10,000 at WC at the peak of his career. That would be wrong.
You're right. Mo is faster than him, so he has not earned it. In my mind, unless you ran the 10,000 faster than Mo this year, you should not be allowed to participate participate. That should be the entry standard. Ok, you'll tell me that a race with only one guy in it may be a but boring. Well, so be it... It will teach all these pu$$ies to run faster if they want to be allowed to run at WC.
He's ranked 27th in the world at 10,000 this year (2nd ranked GBR). Seven of the men ranked before him are from Kenya and nine of them are from Ethiopia.
He's in good shape.
What is GBR looking for?

How many whites are ranked before him?
Imagine the outrage if he had been black with the same number of whites before him.

?
The point here is that Kenya and Ethiopia can only sent 3 men each. Therefore, ten men who are ranked ahead of him will not be at WC...
Andy IF YOURE RUNNING THIS ITS TOO LATE
Look at it from UKA point of view and it's easy to see why he wasn't selected. They want athletes capable of a top 8 finish. Maybe their selection policy is bullshit but it is what is. Harsh but fair.

Lmao 75% of the the athletes UKA selected are not capable of making the top 8
Should have been selected. If not for his benefit then for the next 5 vernons who are u/20 u/23s making life decisions over the next year or two
His 27:42 puts him 13th UK performer (all time).
His 5000m PR from last year ranks him 7th UK performer (all time).
Top 8?
Pretty safe to say that no athletes born in the UK will ever have a chance to be in the top 8. Three from Kenya, three from Ethiopia, a couple more from other African countries (Eritrea, Uganda...), one or two freaks of nature (or who have thyroid problems or asthma) from another country and you are already out of the top 10.
If that's the case.
All UK distance runners should just quit now... Why bother...
If every country did the same, then the WC would have 3 KEN, 3 ETH and a couple more guys...
...and all other countries would stop distance racing...
Every country would be like Finland is now...
...maybe that's the future.

Stupidest logic I've seen here in a long time. Worse than Republican/race bait troll threads.. Congratulations on that.

What time, in you mind, should have he run at 10,000 to get to "participate" at WC?
If he had run 13:20 4 or 5 months ago, I would agree with you, he should've been sent to Beijing.
Look at the date. It's August 1st. Every true contender in the world at the 5k distance is now in exemplar shape, with months of training and tapering. To get top 8 at worlds one would need have the ability to run sub 13, maybe even sub 12:55, in an honest 5k race. 13:20 may've been impressive in April, but no longer, Vernon.
*need to have the ability
