Could lack of certain meats in the diet lead to poor performance?

For about 2 years now, I've made the choice to not have red meat, pork, or really anything that walks on 4 legs in my diet. I've been predominantly a chicken eater with the occasional fish filet. I'm left wondering--and I have no idea why this question just now entered my head--if the lack of vitamins, zinc, iron, etc. could produce an unnoticed effect on performance.

Are the levels of these vitamins and minerals in poultry/fish enough to sustain a runner? Or should I be looking to take supplements?

Poultry and fish are enough. If you are really bothered, use one of the many websites and apps to track your nutrition for two weeks. You make a note of the things you eat, and you'll learn both macro (protein, fat, carb) and micro (minerals, vitamins) components of your diet. Then you'll see whether any of the micro is deficient with your average diet.

Most likely, it isn't. Supplements are an expensive waste of time for most people. Except for EPO and the like of course.

For a thrower, those lifts may be beneficial? But as far as performance & eating more meat, I'd think you're much better off without bacon, bologna, hot dogs, pepperoni, growth hormones, antibiotics, ….

Would you eat bacon from a 3 legged pig? Why 2 but not 4 legged animals? It seems a bit hypocritical. And why are you asking if you're not going to eat red meat anyway?

I suppose it does sound odd that I'm like "oh yeah, I only eat two-legged animals", but it's one of the easier ways to describe it to people, especially when most two-legged beasts tend to be leaner. But to say it sounds hypocritical? Not at all. It would be hypocritical if I said I ate 4 legged animals, but not 2 legged ones. See?

And did you even read? I asked because I needed to know if I should be taking supplements, obviously.

As for the rest of you, thanks a bunch for your pro-tips!
