Disclosure. I know several members of the men's team at G'town. My son runs for a D1 program of similar stature to G'town and almost went to G'town.

In summary:

- there was no racial bias

- the men's team had a scavenger hunt and posted a video that were sexually inappropriate

- the coach got fired

- the woman who made the accusations gets to keep her scholly

This is chicken sh_t! This is G'town covering its arse.

Yes, the coach should have squashed some of the outrageous behavior. But, this kind of behavior is the norm, not the exception, in my opinion. Guys are going to do stupid stuff.

The coach should have been given a slap on the wrist for not keeping tighter control over his charges.

There's a lesson here for athletes. Think about how your stupid actions effect others on the team as well as your coaches. Don't post stuff on YouTube, Twitter, email, etc.

I hope Henner lands in a good place. Wherever he goes, it's likely to be a step down from G'town. Didn't need to happen...

So, you and rojo BOTH have rock solid sources (members of the team accused of wrongdoing) who tell you that there was no wrongdoing? I guess that settles it then.

very clever of the university to conclude there was lots of bad behavior by the male athletes, but no racist behavior by anyone...because that, of course, would reflect poorly on the entire white-privileged Georgetown community. Which we can't allow.

Those articles are extremely vague. However, what is clear is that the coaching staff was entirely exonerated, so it is a shame that Henner has resigned. The team and coaches were also exonerated on the charges of racism, so apologies are needed for both. I do not know what the men's team was doing exactly and where they were doing it, but it does not sound to me as if the coaches had or should have had any idea about what was going on.

However, to Rojo, coaches and professors are not analogous. Professors might have 100 or more different students every term, sometimes a lot more. They do not recruit any of them and they see very few of them outside of class during a single semester. The coaches recruit most of their athletes; the athletes often choose the university because of the coach/program; the coaches travel with and stay in hotels with the athletes throughout the academic year; the coaches see the athletes at least five days a week at practice and at meets; the coaches communicate with the athletes in the summer for workout schedules and the like; and the coaches often stay in touch with the athletes after graduation to help them in their careers. Coaches do and should have substantially more responsibility for student activities and behavior than individual professors.

I say it will be rojo. Proven record of success, and doesn't live THAT far away from Georgetown.

I really don't see what the big deal is. Nobody got hurt. Boys will be boys they were just having little fun.

Doesn't matter if you think the articles are "vague". The articles aren't going to show lewd actions or video of the innappropriate misconduct that happened, which the University saw.

Clearly something inappropriate happened and was reported. In addition, there is very likely a complete lack of maturity and leadership of at least several members on the team.

I seriously doubt Henner would be stepping down and that they would be missing 7 weekends of competition if Henner and Georgetown were fine with what happened.

How is the men's cross-country assistant keeping his job? This appears to have gone on for at least three years. I've never heard of a team having their locker room closed. Clearly there was more than a "joke list".

When did I say there was no wrong doing? I never said that. I said a team member or ex team member told me it was viewed as a ridiculous list and was voluntary. I told him,"you may have thought itw as volulntary but young guys are going to feel obligated to do it to fit in and be cool and that list is bad no matter how you look at it."

Won't there be a whole new staff as new director will get to choose his assistants?

The Professor argument is stupid. Did the Professor recruit the student-athlete and offer him/her a scholarship?

That's just how bureaucracy functions. They need to give the illusion that they're taking action, because they have to do "something," even though there was no wrongdoing on the coach's part. Somebody's head has got to roll; somebody has to take the hit for the school. Henner knew it, the AD knew it. So Henner resigns, despite being exonerated, and now looks for another job somewhere else. The support staff can stay the same, even though they were on board while all of this was happening. It's mostly about appearances.

Not that the school DOESN'T want to take care of this - but obviously the problem here was the athletes, not the coaches. Regardless, a head has to roll to appease the masses. And the lawyers.

Similar situations happen all the time in coaching. It's just politics, baby. Vigilante is the first one that pops into my head.

You know a white heterosexual coach can't do anything about any homosexual shenanigans going on without losing his job? So why should he lose his job for allowing homosexual shenanigans because a black woman complains about what the homosexual men are doing? It just shows that power of Black Privilege in the racist caste system, black skin trumps all other privileged groups including homosexuals.

i ran in college in the early 2000s; i was not good by any means, but i understand the dynamic of a male locker room. what these guys did may be viewed as crude or juvenile, but if you don't believe that this behavior is common in locker rooms everywhere you are jaded or just plain stupid. this really shouldn't have been an issue, and it certainly wasn't an issue of hazing or misconduct.

justice was not served, and in innocent man has lost job while good kids' reputations have been clouded.
