A *fetus* is not a person/baby until it is born.

An abortion is only ok when the woman carrying the pregnancy says it is ok.

That these laws have been written indicates that the law does not consider a fetus a person. This is the whole goal of personhood laws. However, you do not have to be Clarence Darrow to realize that this is completely untenable, and irrational.

A fetus does not have any rights. A newborn child has much more in the way of rights, because....it is a person because it was born.

In Canada if a fetus expires due to negligence etc. this does not result in a charge of murder. Over the decades, courts in Canada have upheld the idea that laws as they apply to persons do not apply to a fetus, and so a fetus is not a person.
