I finished my senior year of HS very successfully by running 9:44 and 4:29. I am a pretty good 800 runner at 2:03. I am committing to oregon to run next year and have contacted my coach to ask about report date, apparel shipments, ETC and have had no response. Any advice?
Perhaps there is a legitimate reason for him not responding. Since it is Oregon, he probably gets a crazy amount of emails of people who want to run.
Another possible reason which you need to be able to accept is that you are not his priority. This guy has an amazing amount of talented runners at that school. I don't mean to sound rude, but a 2:03, 4:29, 9:44 runner is not a big deal for a school like Oregon (Even if you came from a high school with bad training). If he were to lose you, it really wouldn't affect the team. If you're serious about running, you might find that you'll end up disappointed at such a big school. It's for that reason that I chose to go to a community college instead of walking on at a big D1 school. I wanted to find a coach that really wanted me to be there, rather than one that wouldn't really mind whether I was there or not. I am very happy with my decision, as this coach has put in extra time just to help me.
