I have always been curious, and after seeing the additions to the NAZ Elite yesterday, what or how much are 'elite runners' in these elite groups like NAZ Elite, BAA, Zap, etc, actually on?
I can't expect everyone is on a salary and nor should everyone. Too many athletes think they should get x amount and everything on a plate. How and do they make ends meet? If the athlete isn't on a salary and has to work crappy job on the side, what was the point of joining one of these elite clubs and going 'pro'? Why not go the old school way of working in the real world and running? It worked for runners in older generations (like Steve Jones, Steve Ovett, etc). What other benefits make it worth signing with one of these elite clubs and going pro instead of trying the real world job and running combo?
