Really great to see local boy Kyle Langford set a huge 800m PB today at the Olympic stadium in London with 1:45.78.
It's been a great week for 19 year old Kyle, whose father I know and owns my local fish and chips shop. Firstly he won the European Junior gold at 800m, then appeared for the first time on the cover of Athletics Weekly on Thursday, and today he crashed through the 1:47 and 1:46 barriers for the first time to come 7th in the Diamond League race.
Not only did he finish less than a metre behind Bosse, but he got great scalps beating Berian, Loxsom and Sowinski!
He now has the qualifying time to run in the Worlds, which should get him selected, especially after winning the trials race the other week, beating Rimmer.
His time today also puts him 3rd on the UK All-time Junior list, behind Sharpe (1:45.64) and Ovett (1:45.77). Just 0.01 behind the great man!
Well done Kyle and good luck in getting selected!
