I'm currently a 15 year old rising sophomore who is planning to participate in both xc and track. I didn't participate in cross country my freshman year, but managed to do both indoor and outdoor track. Despite not apprehending the aerobic base that most of the other freshman got from xc, I managed to end my outdoor season with prs of 4:32, 10:05, and 2:00. My team is very excited of my recent success, and I'm expected to be our number one this year.
Anyways, I've been browsing through forums and noticed how many people talk about how being physically matured earlier in one's hs career may mean that one is coming close to their peak. This worries me because I'm very physically mature for my age, and wouldn't be surprised if I'm almost done with puberty. Could this hint that I won't improve as drastically as the other freshman in my class who aren't physically developed like me, yet run the same times? Please be brutally honest if you must.
Sorry for the lengthy response. Please reply if you have any knowledge regarding physical maturity and how it affects running.
