Haven't heard much from this guy in a while. Is he officially retired from professional running?

He's on the start list for B2B
Had the chance to talk to him a few days ago actually. He is not retiring anytime soon, from what I've gathered.
He is transitioning into coaching and camps. Seems that he will still do some road racing and likely shoot for the Marathon Trials. It would be cool if he would still race Cross Country.

Awesome that you had a chance to talk to him. He seems like a cool dude.

this. I am really pulling for him to make the marathon team, I think it would be an awesome comeback. I agree that he should do some cross races this fall/winter.
Actually heard him speak a few days ago. Seems like the plan is to run the 10K at the trials next year. He still has another year with Nike.

It would be even better if Sol and Teg both made the team. I assume Teg is still training for the marathon, right?
He's an assistant coach at William and Mary

He was driving his car on 4 bald tires. They each had over 100,000 miles on them. Only sensible thing to do.
Hasn't he been retired since 2011?

Yes, he is now working 3rd shift at the mill.
His 8:28 3000m or whatever he ran a few weeks ago bodes well for the comeback, saying it and doing it are two different things. He also looks 10-15lbs over weight even for his frame.

8:28 3km is what a friend of mine ran his junior year in high school, yeah I would say he's making a good comebaack.
LOL! MORAN!

We're not talking about Moran; we're talking about Solinsky. Stay focused.
Now, I've heard from a close friend that the thing that has driven him all these years--to the exclusion of ALL OTHER forms of motivation--is the fear of being called SLOWinsky. And he hates that. He hates it.
He won't quit, letsrun.com. You'll see him at Rio in 2016. Most likely as a long distance runner, but there's a chance he might go back to his first love--synchronized swimming. It's a tough sport to do alone, but I wish him luck.
