Let's hear it everyone!
Justin Gatlin seems to be the favorite to win, having run 9.74/5 3 times now.
That being said, Asafa Powell's 9.81 is not to be ignored. I know, he tends to walk into the final a defeated man mentally, but I just wonder if Usain Bolt's lackluster season will make Powell more confident.
Trayvon Bromell (spelling?) has also run 9.84, but I don't think he dips below 9.9 in the final. Now in the future, I see him taking medals in the 100m, 4x100m and maybe 200m.
Now I know no one was thinking this, but when Powell ran 9.81, Jimmy Vicaut ran 9.86, taking Tyson Gay's position as 4th fastet man in 2015. Not saying he's the next Usain Bolt, but chasing a fit Powell shows he doesn't underperform when out under pressure. I don't think he medals in Beijing, but certainly a contender.
Tyson Gay can still run a good race, as we saw in his 9.87 victory for another national title in the 100m. I don't think he's going to touch better than 9.80 this year, or ever again, but Bolt & Blake aren't in sub 9.7 second shape now, so Gay doesn't need a 9.69 to medal.
Usain Bolt, although failing to touch world class 100m times this year, I believe to be a contender for gold anyhow. He appeared to be unready before London 2012, but bounced back with an Olympic record. I don't see him going 9.6 again, at least not till Rio, but I'm not going to write him off yet.
Did I miss anybody who's running well this year?
P.S. I'm a 16 year old kid who's only followed 60m through 800m since 2011, so if I seem ignorant, its because I am :P
