Which spike do you prefer? Also, is one better for cross country than the other? I've heard the Endorphins have bad durability issues, is that the case?

I have run cross in both the matumbo 1s and endorphin ld4s. Unless you are running exclusively on grass courses, you should choose neither of these shoes. The mutumbo spike plate does not cover the ball of your foot so you can get a little bruised up if you go through a rocky portion of a course. The endorphin's spike plate will cover the ball of your foot but not really anything else.
The Saucony Careera and NIke victory XC (I have never ran in the victory XC but heard good things) are better cross shoes if you go on any courses with rocks, plus they will last longer than 1 cross season.
If you only run on grass courses I personally like the endorphins better.
Endorphins are better spikes. Period.
I already have a pair of true XC spikes I'd only use one of these for championship type grass courses and then for track. I think I'll probably go Endorphins
you'll probably only get a few decent races out of the endorphins, a very fragile shoe
I run in Endorphins on the track, but if you're choosing between these two for XC, the Matumbo is a better choice, I think. One of my teammates has run in them on the course for several years in the same pair, though most of our courses are entirely grass. The spike plate has gotten a little beat up in gravel though. While the Endorphin can be found cheaper, the Matumbo is probably the better option. As far as track spikes for XC go, a friend of mine who runs for a Big 10 school says he and the rest of his teammates run in Mamba 2s for both XC and track, and they apparently have worked well.
The guy (or girl) who suggested the Saucony Carrera or Victory XC was pretty spot-on, in my opinion. Those are actually the two shoes I was choosing between, and ended up getting the Victory XC 3. Again, the Saucony is probably available at a better price ($40-$55 depending on your size, where Vics can only be found at that price on eBay), but I personally like the Victory better.
