In a tweet on Friday:
"Hey shoe companies, it's actually better for the sport when athletes support each other's brands. Sad you feel the need to threaten...again."

She's referring to her desperate desire for attention late in her career. I'd be willing to bet this all turns into some memoir which will be her income source in her immediate post retirement phase.
This reminds me of the sort of vague nonsense girls post on facebook to get everyone asking questions. Then they have the spotlight for ten minutes, until everyone realizes that they just don't care in the first place.
This year has been a desperate attempt for her to remain relevant.
I have no clue what she was talking about but I wonder why Phoebe Wright trains with a brooks team - I could see nike trying to put its corporate foot down on that and KG seeing it as a 'threat'
but that's just a wild guess
although oiselle is so full of cross sponsored athletes, it could anytjhing

Maybe she is showing support for Nike? Like she feels their pain when Symmonds or Fleshman doesn't support Nike.
If they could get off their high horse and realize that Nike is a great brand, just as Brooks, Oiselle, Saucony, or anyone else is, then the sport will be better.
I want to understand what she's talking about, but I have no clue.
Fleshman answered KG's tweet with this - the capitals in CAPitalism is a clue - maybe Nike objected to someone's hat in some way - a nike athlete wearing a oiselle hat, or oiselle copying a NIke design....but I'd say it's hat related. And with that I reapply my addled brain to work.
Lauren Fleshman @laurenfleshman Jul 11
@karagoucher they have their own brand of CAPitalism.
Or referencing John Capriotti...
A pretty solid pile of a human being

More like CAP as in (John) Capriotti

Just thought you should know.
Capriotti threatened to kill someone at the US Champs relating to the NOP scandal and I could only imagine what this crazy story is about. The dude is a nut job!!
Why is it that the Oiselle athletes feel the need to post vague attention-getting tweets alluding to all sorts of underground evil? I mean, if it's something concrete, let's have it! Otherwise it's just a moody cat-fight pissing-contest. Get over yourselves.
This most likely has to do with Wheating and Wright attending the Oiselle store grand opening in Seattle. I'm guessing Nike was not happy with that?

Goucher & Fleshman don't really have to worry about getting black balled or not let into Euro meets for posting items where as anyone else on the fence has to worry about whether tweeting or Facebooking will get them passed over for starting positions when meet directors are pressured by Cap/Nike.
The story of him threatening to kill someone and challenging others to a fight at USATF is indeed true. Not exactly a shock that this has not come to light regardless of recent events
Sally Bergesen of Oiselle posted this in response to Kara's June 1 tweet: "how 'bout I step off the track and punch you in the face..."https://twitter.com/karagoucher/status/605579637876359168That's a mature response...

You could fix that right now, right here.
Or you could just email the details to the brojos. They've been chomping at the bit for an opportunity to show off their investigative reporting chops.
Let us know what you decide to do.
In the meantime, it's an honor to watch Goucher and Fleshman play "I know a secret" on Twitter. Any idea what set them off?
Wow that tweet from Sally Bergesen! It's like something someone would say on letsrun to troll but she really wrote it on her Twitter page! In fact if it was posted on letsrun it'd probably be deleted.

Agree. It's really astounding. They are furthering the image of women athletes sometimes being emotional and unpredictable. It's hardly the "we are woman we are so strong" line they claim to be promoting.
By contrast there's young Jordan Hassay who presents herself on twitter as level headed and professional. Just about everything she posts or retweets has some inspirational tone to it. She doesn't post innuendo or negativity:
